Build A Mosque At Ground Zero

“This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable. The principle that people of all faiths are welcome in this country, and will not be treated differently by their government, is essential to who we are.”
                                                                   President Barack Obama

The religious bigots and the zealots are howling about the blasphemy of putting a mosque near Ground Zero. But to me, it is the most patriotic thing we could do.

There are no churches or synagogues in some of the countries the terrorists came from. They're illegal there.

In putting a mosque at Ground Zero we could say to the terrorists that they tried to scare us, to make us fear our freedoms. But we're not running scared.

At the site to which they brought terror in the name of religion, we could proudly celebrate the freedoms that make us Americans. And that includes the freedom to worship--or not worship as we choose.

Build the mosque. Better still, build the mosque and next door build a synagogue and a church.

Nothing could be MORE American.
