Basically What I Told The Parents This AM At My Story Hour

The wonderful cartoon "Stone Soup" makes my subscription to "GoComics" worthwhile every day, especially since the heroine has 2 daughters who have a lot in common with my own girls.

The thing with teens/tweens is that their problems are things far more complicated than naps or potty training. Things that are a lot harder to deal with:

That's one of my favorite strips, too. She made Holly and Alix the perfect ages to really play up their personality differences.

I hope I am able to keep an open line of communication with my daughter, so that when the time comes, she'll come to me with her problems. Then, I'll be praying for the right responses!

My girls still seem comfortable talking about things to me. I think I've been a lot franker with them than my mom was with me, and love my mother as I do (and I DO), I think I'm closer to them emotionally, especially JR.

I always think about my beloved niece who got pregnant at 17 and didn't tell her parents until very late in the game. I want my girls to be able to come to me when they really need to, to trust me. That's my goal, especially now in these teen years :/
